Taiwan Trip

On my first trip back to Taiwan, I was not able to resolve many matters relating to my father's death in one week.  So Li-Fang and I took a trip back to Taiwan at the end of May.

The weather was so humid and hot, that it was very difficult to sleep at night. Although the fan was constantly on, it was hard to sleep comfortably.

We met many of her old friends, and we met many new ones.  It was an extremely busy 2 weeks, filled with satisfaction of accomplishing many things and with fun in meeting so many relatives and friends, old and new.

With the help of several people (Bishop Yeh, Daishu Guo, Sister Lin, Sister Huang), we were able to resolve matters concerning my father's life insurance, insurance payments, Jiading house, bank accounts, and cell phone account.

But most of all, I could never have completed so many things without Li-Fang.  She was an extraordinary translator, communicator, detective, and one full of energy and persistence and devotion.  With her as my companion, it was a delightful and exciting adventure every step of the way.  Thanks, sweetheart, for the wonderful trip!

Blake Soccer

Living thousands of miles from my grandson, it is a grand honor to participate in some of his activities.  So when the opportunity arose to attend one of his soccer games, we were delighted to accept the invitation.  Although his team did not win, the game was not about winning but was about rewarding every member with the same rewards: a large conspicuous badge and a sumptuous frozen treat and a photo op of the team and coach.  Although he did not score and at times seemed not to know what was going on, we enjoyed watching him grace the soccer field with his running around the whole field.  He seemed to be saying to us to watch him, which we did with pleasure.  I am proud of my grandson for trying.  One day, I believe, he will be a great soccer player.  But for now, he is still my favorite soccer player in America.  And that's what counts.  Go, Blake!

Happy Holidays 2025

What an amazing year 2025 was for our family! Our list of adventures included a family reunion with my brothers in Chicago, a relaxing trip to Williamsburg and Virginia Beach with Jessica and Joshua, and a Church history tour of Palmyra and Kirtland with church friends. It was our first year of enjoying our first hybrid car. Having to add gas only once a month has simplified life and made it all worthwhile. We share our gratitude of these many blessings and hope that you, the reader, will have received lots of blessings as well this past year and many more in the coming year. This year, Ben has taught half-time at the local Montgomery College. He is serving as the mission leader at church to help new converts with the aid of the full-time missionaries. Li-Fang is enjoying herself by teaching oil painting and sewing at VisArts in Rockville and still continues to teach private piano. She is serving in the Relief Society, the women's organization in our church. Be...

Spy Museum

Megan and I took Grandma to visit the Spy Museum.  We had lots of fun riding the Metro Subway to and from the museum.  Inside the museum, we spent hours combing through the labyrinth in attempting to accomplish our spy missions.  After the visit, Grandma treated us to Papa John's pizza.
