Senior Home Recital

At the culmination of another year of private piano lessons, Mom hosted the traditional recital at the Sunrise Senior Living at Montgomery Village.  Six of her best students performed a number or two on their grand piano.  As a special treat, Brennan and Clayton Zhao pleased the audience with the saxophone and the violin.  Congratulations to all of the students on a job and a service well done.

Final Group Piano Recital

After 15 years, Mom's last group piano recital took place at the old familiar Woodfield Elementary School cafeteria, the same place the recital has been all these years.  For the last time, she took pleasure in decorating the front with the words "Woodfield Piano 2014 Recital."  Yet, for the first time, she added the same words in Chinese characters below.  Coincidentally, she is "retiring" from group piano at the same time as her colleague, Yvonne Spencer, who taught 4 of our children in group piano.  Together, they led 30 students in performing their musical pieces.  Afterwards, awards were given.  Megan finally received her first trophy.  As a momento of her hard work, she received numerous gifts, including a touching card written by one of her most notorious troublemaker boys.

Cuisine for Mother's Day

Mother's Day On Mother's Day, we created a special treat of crepes with bananas and strawberry or chocolate syrup.  After church, we invited Grandma to come over dinner.  Although we heated up leftovers for lunch, we spent the entire afternoon preparing a tasty dinner consisting of pork chops, cream spinach, garlic bread, apple pie, and banana ice cream shake.   The best treats were a phone call from our missionary son in Sydney a t 6pm and a Skype session with our missionary daughter at 7pm.  It was a day of delightful treats, both physical and spiritual.  Happy Mother's Day.
