Homecoming for Joshua

On Tuesday night, we anxiously drove to the BWI Airport to welcome home Elder Tsai, returning from the Australia Sydney North Mission.  It is hard to believe that it has been two years, but time really flew.  We greeted Elder Tsai on his late arrival flight and came home at almost midnight. His release appointment was postponed to the the following evening.  Our family accompanied Elder Tsai to the home of President Harrison.  After some discussion of his mission, President Harrison officially pronounced Elder Tsai released.  With the mantle of full-time missionary work off his shoulders, Joshua broke down in tears for a little while before offering the benediction. The homecoming Sacrament Meeting was held on Sunday.  We as parents shared a few feelings, before Joshua shared his mission and testimony.  Right after church, the branch held a Linger Longer for Joshua.  President Shen presented a plaque to Joshua for his missionary service. We are happy to have Joshu

Summer Camp Open House

This year Mom was asked to serve as the principal of the Tongxin Summer Camp at Great Seneca Elementary School.  After many hours of planning and training, she held an open house at the school for registered and potential students and their parents.  The youth volunteers in their blue tee shirt uniforms were on hand to welcome, sing, and play games.  The principal and the teachers took turns in introducing their subjects.  At the end, games were played on the basketball court.  All in all, about 30 people came.

Birthday Surprise for Elder Gerber-Kai

On this particular Sunday night, our family and the Mu family both invited missionary elders for dinner.  After dinner, our dinner party moved over to the Mu home to join the surprise Elder Gerber-Kai on his birthday.  Sister Azucena provided the special cake.  Before enjoying the cake, we took turns singing.  Elder Gerber-Kai's companion, Elder Liang, toasted him with a never-heard-before song on the guitar.  The sisters sang "As Sisters in Zion."  Then all of the men sang Ye Elders of Israel.  It was fun to enjoy a nice Sabbath evening.  Happy birthday, Elder Gerber-Kai.
